DAY 2 of 4days4justice (Thursday, April 15th)

Posted: April 15, 2010 in Uncategorized

TAX DAY.  Time to talk about God’s Justice. 🙂

A VERY FULL DAY:

This morning we present the Nyvall Lecture Series at North Park Theological Seminary.  Our theme this year: Jesus and Justice.  We will focus on the aspects of Race and Justice and Gender and Justice.

At 9AM – Peter Heltzel, author of Jesus and Justice (Yale University Press) and Assistant Professor of Theology at New York Theological Seminary will be presenting on “Jesus, Justice and Race”.  His book was one of the more stimulating books I read this past year.  He traces the influence on evangelicalism of Carl Henry and Martin Luther King. A fascinating and rewarding read.  His abstract for the lecture can be found HERE.

After a break at 10:45am, Mimi Haddad, President of Christians for Biblical Equality and adjunct professor at Bethel Seminary will be presenting on “Jesus, Justice and Gender.”  She is one of the best thinkers on the issue of gender equality. Her abstract for this lecture is found HERE.

BETWEEN 1PM and 5PM, there will be a fishbowl discussion on the topic: “What is an evangelical social ethic for the 21st century?

The Campus Lecture Series on Justice continues with an evening session (7PM in Hamming Hall at North Park) on the topic of “Environmental Justice“.  Terry LeBlanc and Lisa Sharon Harper will be presenting.
